5 Ways to Celebrate Litha or the Summer Solstice

Hey Witchy Bitches!

It's almost time for Summer Solstice or Litha, one of the "lesser" Sabbats! During Litha we celebrate the masculine energy of the Sun and all that it gives us.

Think: joy, passion, high ENERGY!

The energy of the masculine is Yang, whereas the Feminine is Yin. The Yang asks us to get up and move: to dance, to celebrate, to practise Yoga, go for a hike. It's a high and joyous vibe and these are a few ways you can tap into it...

  1. Light a Bonfire or Gather Around a Fire Pit

Fire has long been associated with solstice celebrations. If local your space allows, enjoy an evening around a bonfire or fire pit with storytelling, music, and conversation.

  1. Take a Nature Walk or Hike and forage some local plants

Spend time outdoors appreciating the abundance of summer. A walk through a forest, nature reserve, or local trail. You can forage some herbs and plants if your area allows for it that you can use in Rituals at home!

  1. Create a Flower Crown or Nature Craft

Collect wildflowers, leaves, and other natural materials to make flower crowns, wreaths, or decorations. This is inspired by traditional midsummer celebrations in many parts of Europe.

  1. Create a home decoration with dried Citrus fruits

Citrus fruits are meant to symbolise the sun... dry out some oranges or lemon and use some string to tie these into a small home decoration

  1. Create a Summer Simmer Pot

A simmer pot fills your home with the energy and fragrance of the fruits, herbs and plants you infuse into it. Forage some plants or flowers that are blooming in your garden and add in Citrus fruits to represent the Solstice and Cinnamon Sticks for good luck!

Have a beautiful Solstice Witches! Love @abitheyogawitch
